Piano exams... and maybe more...

Well... It's been awhile since my piano exams have finished...

Recalling, I do not think I have done too well during the exam...

1st song: Mozart Sonata in C, Kv 309
First movement: Ok... Though I think I may have rushed a little too much in the beginning... Should not be the real problem =)
Second movement: Ok... Supposedly my most confident movement... Not too fast, not too slow, so I think this movement also should not be the real problem =)
Third movement: (The one which must have killed me ) I rushed (hopefully not too much) and I tripped a lot on the notes... Especially when the page didn't turn!!!

2nd song: Intemezzo in A by Brahms.
Quite nicely done, except for a slip on the 3rd page...

3rd song: Prokofiev Visions Fugitives 1-5
1-3 movements: I think I screwed those movements... Nervous? Should be bah...
4-5 movements: Not as bad as the first 3 movements... I hope..

Overall not too good... I really wish I can pass though...

Wadeva..

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hi all readers,

I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2008!

May the new year bring you happiness =)

Piano Exams and some other updates...

Hi... Sorry for not being able to post for the past month... I have been busy on some things... (choir stuff mainly...)

First...

Grandparent's day concert on 25/11 @ Ancient Civilization Museum... TPJChoir performed 3 songs: Come Go With Me, The Lion Sleeps Tonight and finally Those Lazy Hazy Crazy days of Summer... The concert was quite ok... zao sia sometimes but overall ok... Haha... Hopefully this would give us some publicity so we can have more JC1 intake next year

Next...

The Samuel Ting Tribute concert on 28/11 @ Victoria Concert hall... TPJChoir performed 8 songs: 4 alone, 3 combined with VJC and the last one combined with VJC and Amadeus Choral Society Singapore... The 4 songs we did alone were "Abiding in Christ", "The Magic of Believing", "The Way that he Loves" and "Fatimah"... The 4 combined songs with VJC are "Joyful Dance (欢乐舞曲)", "Nightingale (夜莺之歌)" and "Yuan Nian (远念)"... The last song with all the singers was "The Lord's Prayer"... TPJChoir's performance was "Very Good" as said by one of Singapore's best conductors (and also our choir's director), Mr Nelson Kwei... and since a lot of secondary schools went for the concert (most of the tickets were sold to secondary school choirs), this meant more publicity for us YEAH!!

Finally... the biggest thing....

My Piano Diploma exam!!! Coming soon... 19th December 2007 in Robert Piano music school at Marina Walk... ARGHHH!!! Now going to practice hard after I finish blogging...

BTW Plaisir de Chanson 2008 is coming soon! Do check out my blog for more information

NO MORE PW FOR ME!

Yay! After a gruelling 7 months of PW, it is FINALLY over!

A very BIG Thank You to all who have directly / indirectly supporting my group TP118 in this tough period of time.

-------
To TP118, 2007:

(Quoted from the online message I sent on tpjc.net)

Just wanted to say a thank you for all that you've done in this year's PW... I've learnt a lot from doing this project... (i'm sure you'd agree... whoever would know that Philo Farnsworth was the inventor of the first electronic TV?).. I'm proud to be in this group, TP118~! haha...

Muz especially thank Wen Fong and Ting Ming for their extra work they put in, and Yun Shuo for being such a good secretary and last but not least, Timo for being the group's leader...

Of course, this would be the best team I ever had for any project... so yah... let's hope we can get an A or B for our PW grade...

anyways...

NO MORE PW FOR US!!!
(but let's still continue to be like how we've always been, considering that part of the team may not be able to make it to next year...)

------

Rest assured, I won't forget all those wonderful times with the groups, all the 5.29am meetings online, the meeting overnight at Timo's house, the fun we had during PW lessons (till Mdm Lim had to "scold" us),... And the 198+MB PW folder in my laptop :)...

FYI I still have all the chat logs stored in my computer... One day must go look back at those meetings... Hahahaha...

After the Preliminary Ideas came the Group Project Proposal...

Still recalled... First Group Project Proposal meeting was at my house... Decided to do project on PHILO TAYLOR FARNSWORTH, THE INVENTOR.

Wen Fong did the ENTIRE 1st GPP draft! (so hardworking sia... haha)

2nd GPP meeting online, we (except Timo) slept at 1am+

3rd GPP meeting online, we (except Timo) slept at 1.30am+

4th GPP meeting online, we (except Timo) slept at 1.30am+ (this one we managed to reach 10 pages, the minimum required by Mdm Lim)

Then came the Written Reports...

Hmmm... If I'm not wrong, 1st draft we (except Timo) slept at 1am+

2nd draft, we (except Timo) slept at 3.30am+

3rd draft, we (except Timo) slept at 5.13am+ (<<made me late for school!! Lucky was teachers' day, so not counted... haha)

4th draft, we (except Timo) slept at 4.30am+ (<<made me late for school!! But this time counted as 1st time late...)

5th draft, All done in Timo's house overnight... No one slept this time... (coz we forced each other not to sleep)... Longest PW meeting ever! I even brought my printer to his house! From 11th October 11am+ (after Chem promo paper) to next day 12th October 12.30pm+ (deadline for Draft 5 was at 1pm)

6th draft, we (except Timo, Wen Fong and Yun Shuo!!) slept at 4.45am+...

Final final final WR... All completed by 17th Oct 12pm... Burned to CD provided by Mdm Lim... (No more WRs for us! TQVVM!)

Then came the Oral Presentations (wooo... very close to the end of PW 2007 already!)

OP room: D204

Practice dates:
22/10 D204: 12:30pm - 5pm
23/10 D204: 8.30am - 3.50pm (but we left at approx 1pm as some stupid aunty chased us out...)

TPJChoir has made a video for him... and the producers are:
Organizer: See Kai
Video tapers: Gabriel and Arron
Video Editors: Gabriel, Arron, Ding Yi, Matthew, See Kai and Shu Yun

Play! A video game symphony.

Haha... It's finally over! A whole month of practice finally paid off. The symphony was what I can say as a huge success.

Here are a few videos I managed to find on YouTube...
Super Mario bros:

Legend of Zelda:

Castlevenia suite:

Final Fantasy- One winged angel:

Metal gear solid:

Kingdom Hearts:

Oblivion suite:

and more...

But those are not the ones I performed in... I couldn't find any of those which belonged to my concert... But nevermind.... Just watch it... The songs are nice!

EU coming to TPJC

Well... the European Uni0n is coming to TPJC for some importing meeting... LOL! The choir gets the opportunity to perform for them!! (But that means extra pressure on me as I've just started memorizing the 3 pieces for SYF... Luckily they are using 2 of the SYF pieces for the concert...)

BTW me getting busier and busier every day, all thanks to Chinese and PW... so not much time to post...

W00T SYF 2007 HERE I COME~!

Well from the title you can tell that I managed to get into the SYF 2007 team! Now have to memorize all 3 pieces (in 3 weeks... should be no sweat for me :) haha)

TPJC Choir SYF 2007!!!

Waaa... It's coming. The Choir SYF is coming. The 8th of May.

Due to that, SYF Auditions IS coming!!! 13th April 2007! The songs used for the audition are "Dokin Dokin" and "Quam Iuvat"... (And I have NOT even learnt them!) LOL!

Hopefully the conductor (Mr Nelson Kway) would be lenient... Maybe he would make me do the other SYF piece (Song Without Words II) for me... LOL!

Hopefully I can go into SYF 2007 (if not no opportunity liao~!)

New CCA

Well... So I've finally managed to settle down in my JC...

Went hunting around for a CCA but couldn't find a suitable one... End of the day, I went back to what I did in secondary school: Choir!

Well... It may not be the best choice for a guy, but hey, it is one of the most rewarding CCAs available (after Student Council, if that counts...)... The competitions/SYF/performances/... would be enough for me to fill my SGC (School Graduation Cert.) with 3 items... LOL!

So yah... would be in the Choir unless something happens... haha...

Moving on...

An SMS received on 22nd March, from Chi Tao (1S10'07 1st intake CT-Rep)
Hey, i think you better start looking on the bright side you got a bloody 2 more years there!
After reading the SMS, I realised that I should start moving on, and not dwell on my past experience in SRJC... (Of course, this does not mean I should not just forget that SR exists and to think at my 1st two months experience is just a dream...) I should stop comparing TPJC and SRJC... Although I did not have a nice experience during the first 1-2 weeks in TP, it does not mean that TP is not a good school... (I mean... Considering that the people in TP have a lower cut off of less than 14 pts)... So i just have to accept the fact that I am in TP and not in SR... And stop complaining about the culture/LTs/Audi/lecturers/tutors/council and more there... Haha... Just have to accept the place as it is, and if I get the opportunity, I will try my best and contribute to TP to make it a better place...

Anyway after 1 (disorganised) week of lessons/lecures, I feel that my tutors and lecturers are quite ok...

(Feeling better now after the post...)

Tuesday, March 20, 2007

2nd day of lessons...

Well... Today i got to see even more teachers... Even got to see the TPJC Auditorium... (Those in SR who complain abt the LTs, dun complain till u see the LTs here.. haha) Well.. the Audi is not as big as the LT5 in SR ( maybe it is the same size, but LT5 in SR is long, and the Audi in TP is wide... so LT5 in SR seems bigger...)... not as bright too...(and maybe not as hi-tech as the LT5 in SR...) haha... but still bright enough for us to have lectures...

Well... we managed to start on Chemistry Practical! (Note to self: SPA skill B assessment would be on T2 week 8... must prepare... haha) Found out that some of my CG (Civics group) mates do not even know how to do titration ( No pure chem, did not go for 1st 2 months...)... Some of them got lost...

Anyway getting used to TPJC.. hope the lecturers (and tutors) are as good (if not better) than SR... lol...

Monday, March 19, 2007

Lessons proper...

Well... the first day of lessons in TP was quite ok... received my timetable... Latest days ends at 4.30pm (better than 5.30 in SR... haha...) but it is on Mondays and Thursdays... Other days ends at a reasonable time... Anyway, Project work (H1) has started! Man... Don't really know what to do... Have to submit the "Preliminary Ideas" by week 5! LOL... (Those doing PW which question are you going to do? "Groundbreakers" or "Entertainment"?)

Well, i got to meet some of my teachers today... A bit of mess here and there (people cannot find classes, ...) but other than that was quite okay...

Anyway I have PE on the last period on Monday... (Sian...) Haha... the teacher is quite an old man! Balding! haha... (But dun underestimate him... He is very strong...)

FYI, my CT is Mdm Lim Jiin...

Lessons...

Well... So the new term has started... Hopefully the remaning terms would not be as bad as the impression the orientation has given me... By the way, I'm taking H2 Maths, H2 Physics, H2 Chemistry, H1 Economics, H1 Chinese, H1 Project work and H1 General Paper... My class in TPJC is 07S21...

ABRSM Grade 8 Theory exam...

Well as you all know from my previous post, my ABRSM ( Associate Board of the Royal School of Music) Music Theory grade 8 (Highest grade, followed by Diploma) is today! Anyway it's over... now waiting for my results... haha...

Hmmm... the paper was quite ok.. not too difficult... BTW do anyone of you know what this is called? They asked for what abbreviation can be used for this... haha... anyhow put "Trem." (short for Tremolo)

Anyway i heard that if i got a distinction i could get up to 400 pounds... LOL! So desperation hoping for a Distinction grade~! LOL!

3rd day (final day) of TPJC JC1 2nd Orientation

Well... so today is the final day of orientation... So far had been so sian... 2day was at least a bit better... More lively... More cheering... but only 5 people came in my OG as it was WET GAMES, so it was like totally not enough people to participate in the games and stuff... Nvm... we still played the games... we played "Friendly mode" so 2 from the opposing team sent 2 players to play against their own team... End of the day, we only played 3 games... and I got wet only once! always avoid the water bombs...

The orientation finale was not really good... Couldn't understand what my OGL (orientation group leader) was performing on stage... After the acting, our OGL used a cheer to put other OGs down... It goes like this:

Oh ley ley,
Oh lah lah,
(someone) very gay,
(someone) boleh blah!

So lame right...? LOL! then other families call us LOSERS...

Anyway the way they give points is a bit lame.. everyone won in the end ( so no point having the point system at all...)

Oh yah... To all SRJC SC Interns Welco, the outing on Saturday is CANCELLED! so sad...

BTW I better not write anymore... 2mr is my piano exam... Wish me luck~!

2nd day of 2nd Orientation...

Hi all again... Well as you know, the first day of orientation was VERY boring ( See previous post)... Hmmm... today's orientation was a bit better... More games n cheering... Learnt 2 new cheers, but i still prefer my old Argo cheers (learnt in Orientation 1:Voyage in SRJC) ... Well... OG DJ is leading at 95 pts, while most houses are 85-90 pts..

Games there was not really fun, mostly searching for a piece of paper at each station (there were 20 stations... so you should know how board we were...) After about the 10th station, everyone all very sian already, as we met up with the same family OG (Captain Hook)... end up like all the captain hook OGs were together.. THEN we came to a station, which we had to race against another OG from another family.... Since most of us there were from the same family, we could not play against each other... then another OG of the same family as me came to snatch my OG's place. So we had to wait... After 2 turns past then our turn came ( other OGs of the same family snatch place)... During that time we were sitting there (under the sun, no shade) and wait... That made us unhappy...

Hmmm... i think i'll stop here... Will post tomorrow about the 3rd day of orientation...

Wednesday, March 07, 2007

1st day of 2nd Orientation

I got posted into Captain Hook, OG 11.

Man... this has got to be the worst orientation ever! So different from the one in SRJC... Not fun at all! The president of the Student Council in TPJC is .. not as good as the one in SR... He does not know how to ¨control¨ the new JC1 batch...

So this was what happened: He started talking and everyone else too.. BUT he did not really care... ( or at least show concern..) ... he did not even state his expectations to everyone... LOL! This is so different from SR... At least Amos (president of 19th student council in SR) told us the school rules and other stuff... Haha...

Another BIG mistake he made: He sat at the edge of the stage when addressing everyone! OMG! How can he ever control the crowd...? LOL!

Hmmm... I heard from many people who got transferred from SRJC to TPJC want to appeal back to SRJC... I wonder why... It may be due to the Orientation : It scared them away...

BTW I heard that back in SRJC a friend (also an OGL) said that her OG sucks... I wonder why... LOL! I also heard that Argo is not winning... Demeter is... haha! Who cares...?

Anyway hoping that the 2nd day of Orientation is just as good as the one in SRJC...

Go back to SR?

Hmmm... i have heard that many people from TPJC want to appeal back to SRJC... Should I...? Recently my good friend (Chi Tao) in SR who was posted to MJC called me and said that SR was more "value-added" than TP... Said that SR's and TP's results were about the same, only difference was the pass rate...

BTW I just read my friend's (Xiu Hao) blog and found out that he had written a memo for me! After reading it, i realised that I missed SR and my friends in SR, though most would not be going back to SR... So what's the point of going back...? haha...

Anyway I want to thank all those who had helped me in 1 way or another in SR... Keep in touch!

Argo 6 rocks! SC Welco rocks! 1S10 ('07) rocks! All lecturers / tutors who taught me rocks!

W00T! TPJC HERE I COME!

Hmm... Ok... as most of you (2006 o-lv students) know, the JAE Results have been released today... http://www.moe.gov.sg/esp/schadm/jae/ ...

My results was... not really very good, but good enough to go to a JC... So i put TPJC (Science) as 1st choice, and SRJC (Science) as 2nd choice...

Well, I'm happy that i managed to go to TPJC: No more 30-45 min bus rides home~! I'll post about the 1st day orientation in TPJC 2mr...

Thursday, March 01, 2007
